The has Karlsruhe Institute of Technology has created a process whereby you can erase and reprint 3D printed structures at the nanoscale. The direct laser writing 3D printing process can make structures of up to 100 nm in size using a nanoscale ink 3D printing process which is then chemically altered so that it can be erased. This could be a new way to make and remove support structures with nanoscale 3D printing.
GKN is a large industrial group that is investing in metal powders and metal 3D printing machines in a big way. The company has now launched InstAMetal which is an online quoting platform for metal 3D printing. Shapeways for metal essentially. It is a new move for the company which would see them be able to reduce the cost of the parts they make for automotive and aerospace through servicing other customers with their metal 3D printing service.
